Our story
&Scene was founded as a Rehearsed Reading company for new writing and emerging performance talent from across the UK and internationally. Lauren ran it alongside a career as a touring performer and workshop facilitator, working with the British Theatre School, Trunk Theatre, and the Royal Voluntary Society.
Through her facilitation work, running workshops and performances in schools and community spaces, she realised her passion for making theatre that didn't end when the lights came up. That left something behind - a positive, ongoing impact.
Letters I Never Sent is the first show and expression of that philosophy. Our one-person show tours primary schools, libraries, and children's theatre festivals across the UK, leaving every child with a letter they wrote themselves.
At the core of our business, we believe that good performance shouldn't stop at the school gates. That’s why we’ve committed a proportion of profits from every show to donate to a local charity, and each month, a different one is chosen. Because generosity, like theatre, travels further when you share it.
Founder note
Hi, I’m Lauren Greenwood!
I trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and spent a decade performing on stages across the UK. That experience taught me one thing above all: that live performance, performed with honesty and craft, can unlock something in an audience that nothing else quite reaches. I wanted to discover what theatre unlocks in children by creating it in easily accessible spaces.
I’m dedicated to delivering meaningful, curriculum-linked performances to children and young people, leaving them with joy and a tangible memento from the experience.
“Nothing short of electrifying."
