What the show is about

A one-person show. A room full of children. Something real to take home.

Performed by Lauren, "Letters I Never Sent" follows one performer on a journey of self-discovery as they read aloud from a collection of letters written but never sent. To a younger self. To a friend who moved away. To a beloved teacher. To a character in a book. To someone who lived before us. And finally, to the future.

The letters move between laughter, tenderness, and quiet moments of recognition. Children don't just watch, they feel seen, and that feeling is what carries them into the activity that follows.

What happens on the day

The performance. Then the writing. Then the letter they keep.

Lauren arrives half an hour before the show is due to start, sets up the simple stage - one chair, a stack of books, a small box of envelopes - and performs the 40-minute show.

After the performance, the children take part in a prompted letter-writing activity. She invites one or two children to share their own responses if appropriate. No pressure. Just space to think and reflect. The letter is theirs to continue working on after the session.

Additional monologues available on request

Including To My Bully (on setting boundaries and self-worth) and To My Divergent Friend (on neurodiversity, friendship, and understanding difference). Ideal if your school is exploring these themes in PSHE or pastoral programmes.
